Snet 3: Carroll hits back
Adam Carroll got the win that he'd been threatening all weekend in the final race at Snetterton today. The P1 Motorsport driver converted a good start into a lights-to-flag win.
The Northern Irishman endured heavy pressure from poleman James Rossiter throughout the race, but made no mistake and took his second win of the year. The victory margin was just three tenths of a second, but Rossiter was happy to have taken one good finish away from a dire weekend.
Will Power was third, some distance back. The Australian had his own problems in the form of Nelson Angelo Piquet, who won the other two races at the Snetterton meeting. But the Alan Docking Racing driver was also solid in his defence, and Piquet settled for a safe points finish.
The Brazilian is now the clear points leader after a highly successful weekend in which he was the top points scorer. He took a point for fastest lap in each of the three races, and so fell just ten short of the theoretical maximum of 63.
Danny Watts equalled the Lola-Dome-Mugen's best result, coming home fifth. Despite the encouraging showing this weekend, it is uncertain that he will have the funds to be out at the next round at Castle Combe.
