Rossiter's Knockhill success

Just as Ernesto Viso did in the first race, James Rossiter converted pole position into a clear run to victory in the second race at Knockhill on Sunday.

The race was interrupted by two safety-car periods, each of which ended with a controversial and confusing restart procedure.

Will Power followed Rossiter into the first corner of the race, followed by Nelsinho Piquet, Lucas di Grassi, Karun Chandhok and Ernesto Viso. In other words, the top six filed through Duffus in grid order, and again with restraint that would have surprised many.

Much of the race was run behind the safety car, thanks to Stephen Jelley's stricken entry and a spin by Adam Carroll at McIntyres. Both restarts were farcical, with some drivers accelerating whilst others kept a cautious pace, with some having to drop back into line after accidentally overtaking before the startline.

After the race the discussions continued in the paddock with protests in the pipeline. The yellow flag laps meant there was minimal time for a change in the order, and the top six remained stable throughout, although there was some good battling further down the field.

The race result as it stands means that Rossiter stretches his lead in the championship over Piquet and Dirani.
