Red Bull junior Niko Kari punished for post-race collision
Red Bull junior Niko Kari has become the second driver punished for unsporting behaviour over the Formula 3 European Championship weekend at the Hungaroring
The 16-year-old Finn drove into Pedro Piquet after the finish of the third race in retribution for an incident between them during the race, which cost Kari three positions and from which he was forced to mount a comeback drive into the points.
Kari, who finished second in race one at the Hungaroring, will be made to start the first race of the next round at Pau from the pitlane, and has been given two penalty points on his licence.
Timo Rumpfkeil, boss of the Motopark team that runs Kari, said: "He apologised for it - emotions got the better of him.
"He's not normally that kind of driver."
It is Kari's second penalty of the weekend - he was docked two places on the grid for the third race and one licence point for his Turn 1 incident with Nick Cassidy in race two.
The latest unsporting-behaviour verdict comes two days after Nikita Mazepin was punished for a paddock altercation with Callum Ilott.
Mazepin also went on to pick up two licence penalty points and a five-place grid drop for race three for punting Piquet in the second race, although he was already at the back of the grid for the finale anyway due to track-limits offences in qualifying.
