Estoril 1: Premat sets pace

ASM star Alexandre Premat timed his qualifying run to perfection to snatch pole position for this afternoon's Formula 3 Euroseries race at Estoril

Overnight rain meant the session was held on a damp but drying track, and that pole was always going to go to the driver who could put a lap together late on. Premat was that man, narrowly denying his championship rival Nico Rosberg.

Impressive rookie Frank Perera will line up third for Prema ahead of Loic Duval, who held the pole prior to the last lap dash and Eric Salignon. Brit Jamie Green, whose late effort was ruined by traffic, will start from sixth.

His fellow Brits Lewis Hamilton and Tom Kimber-Smith missed out on the chance to make late improvements and line up outside of the top 20.
