Qualifying 1: Courtney on pole again

James Courtney claimed yet another pole position, his sixth in seven races, for race one at Knockhill tomorrow. The Australian ended a closely fought qualifying session with just over a tenth of a second advantage over Ronnie Bremer, who nicked second spot from Heikki Kovalainen on his final flying lap

Frenchman Bruce Jouanny lines up fourth ahead of championship leader Robbie Kerr. The 20-minute session was stopped midway through after Tom Sisley and Michael Keohane had separate incidents at opposite ends of the circuit. However, what should have been a straightforward recovery was complicated by a bizarre crash on the start/finish line.

After seeing the red flag, Alan Docking Racing driver Mark Mayall backed right off and started to move towards the pitlane. Behind him Shinya Hosakawa was caught out by the suddenly slowing car and rammed right into the back of the Dallara at speed. Mayall's car was quite badly damaged in the impact, but the resumption of the session was delayed because the timing beam had been broken in the incident.

In the Scholarship class there was a one-two for Meritus, with Stephen Colbert claiming his first pole ahead of team-mate Gavin Smith. Runaway championship leader Adam Carroll was back in third.
