Qual 2: Briscoe takes advantage
Christian Klien is going to have it all to do at Hockenheim tomorrow (Saturday) if he wants to undo the damage of today's qualifying session for the second Euroseries F3 race on Sunday morning
Whilst the Austrian's sixth place could hardly be called a disaster, its hardly ideal that championship leader is going to start the race from pole. If Ryan Briscoe doesn't take the title in tomorrow's event, he now knows he's well-placed to do so on Sunday.
Briscoe has just returned from a three-day test for the Toyota Formula 1 team, but showed no slackness of pace today. His lap of 1m34.455s gave him the pole by a tenth from Markus Winkelhock.
The two ASM cars of Alexandre Prémat and Olivier Pla will take up the second row on Sunday. Pla still has the very faintest of championship chances, but things are looking bleak even for Briscoe's main challenger Klien. Briscoe will need a pole and a win to take the title in tomorrow's race. Even then his hopes would depend on Klien failing to finish.
Ryan Briscoe (PREMA Powerteam) 1m34.455s
Markus Winkelhock (Mucke Motorsport) +0.102s
Alexandre Prémat (ASM) +0.181s
Olivier Pla (ASM) +0.255s
Nico Rosberg (Rosberg) +0.339s
Christian Klien (Mucke Motorsport) +0.411s
