Preview: Courtney aims to break duck

Reigning champion British Formula 3 team Carlin Motorsport will not enjoy the same advantage it had at Donington Park three weeks ago at this weekend's Silverstone races, according to team boss Trevor Carlin

The four-strong squad consistently had all members of its quartet in the top six at Donington with Michael Keohane taking a brace of victories after fighting off double poleman and Carlin team-mate James Courtney.

However, with Courtney the only Carlin driver inside the top eight during testing at Silverstone last week, this weekend's races are expected to be more wide open.

Carlin said: "I don't think we'll be as dominant as we were at Donington. Not with all four cars as near the front. Shinya struggled a little bit during the Silverstone test, which was strange for him. It would be nice for James to get his first win of the year under his belt though."

Despite four poles and four fastest laps in as many races, championship leader Courtney has yet to win a race. And while the Australian was second fastest during testing, he will have to fend off title rival Robbie Kerr at Silverstone. The Alan Docking Racing ace, who is second in the championship, was just fourth fastest during testing, two tenths behind Courtney.

Brands Hatch race winner Bruce Jouanny will also be one to watch around the Silverstone GP circuit. The Promatecme driver will be taking the fight to Kerr and Carlin, but will also have to contend with Manor Motorsport's Mark Taylor, who will be hoping the team has cured its handling problems from Donington.

Qualifying for race one starts tomorrow (Friday) at 1120 BST.
