Nurb 2 qual: Rosberg's pole
Nico Rosberg returned to form in qualifying for Sunday's Formula 3 Euro Series race at the Nurburgring, the son of 1982 F1 World Champion Keke taking pole by just 0.005secs ahead of Robert Kubica
The session was a closely-contested affair, although Rosberg (Rosberg Dallara-Opel) held the top spot throughout. He set his 1m22.863s lap on his first set of tyres, and only Kubica (Mucke Dallara-Mercedes) came close to him on the second set. Rosberg appeared to have even more in his locker, but was forced to abort what appeared to be a quicker lap on his second set due yellow flags for Alex Margaritis' stranded car at the chicane.
Series dominator Jamie Green will start third in his ASM-run Dallara-Mercedes, the Briton unable to respond to Kubica's quick time. Lewis Hamilton made it an all-British row two in his Manor-tended Dallara-Mercedes, although he crashed soon after at the hairpin, causing the session to be red flagged.
ASM team-mates Eric Salignon and Alexandre Premat feature on row three, with Nicolas Lapierre (Signiture-Plus Dallara-Opel) and Franck Perera next up.
