Knockhill 1: Courtney - at last
James Courtney finally removed the victory monkey from his back to win his first round of the British Formula 3 championship this year at Knockhill
The Australian has dominated qualifying with Carlin Motorsport this season, without delivering in the races until now. But at the Scottish track, he got his head down from the start to pull away from pole position for a lights to flag win.
In fact Courtney was not the only one to hang on to his grid position. Ronnie Bremer, Heikki Kovalainen and Bruce Jouanny held station to complete the top four. But things weren't so processional behind them.
Firstly, Richard Antinucci and Mark Mayall collided. Then clashes eliminated Fabio Carbone, Michael Keohane and Ernani Judice, Mark Taylor and Robbie Kerr. Carnage, basically.
All of this promoted Alan van der Merwe and Robert Dahlgren into the top six.
Meritus driver Stephen Colbert ended Sweeney Racing's stranglehold on the Scholarship class by beating Adam Carroll to victory.
