Jelley takes pole for race two
Stephen Jelley claimed pole position for the second Bucharest British Formula 3 race as championship leader Marko Asmer finally had a bad day
Asmer could only manage tenth in the early morning session, which started wet but got progressively drier. The best laps were set in the very last moments of qualifying, which was when Jelley registered his first career pole.
Alberto Valerio (Carlin Motorsport) did well to qualify on the front row once again, despite knocking his rear wing off early in the session. A replacement during the subsequent red flag put him back on track and allowed him to repeat his performance of yesterday's first session.
Jelley's Double R teammate Atte Mustonen was on pole until the final seconds, but had to settle for third in the end. It was still the best qualifying performance of the Finn's short F3 career. Maro Engel (Carlin) will line up alongside Mustonen.
National Class racer Sergio Perez (T-Sport) was one of the stars of the session, coaxing his car to eighth overall.
