Jazeman Jaafar leads Carlin 1-2-3-4-5 in pre-race practice at Donington Park

Jazeman Jaafar set the fastest time of the day in pre-race practice for this weekend's penultimate round of the British Formula 3 championship

Jaafar was only seventh in the morning's opening session, but found nearly 1.5 seconds in the afternoon to lead a Carlin 1-2-3-4-5 in the overall times.

"This has been my first time in an F3 car at Donington and its been a pretty good day," said Jaafar, who also topped the pre-race test at Rockingham last time out.

"This is the kind of fast flowing track that I like. We started off making fairly steady progress, but things really came together this afternoon in terms of the feeling in the car and the set-up. I'm aiming to replicate this for qualifying on Saturday."

The 18-year-old Malaysian's team-mate Rupert Svendsen-Cook lapped the Donington GP circuit just 0.032s shy of Jaafar's 1m22.846s fastest time to go second, ahead of Kevin Magnussen, Jack Harvey and new champion Felipe Nasr.

Fortec's Will Buller was the fastest of the Mercedes-powered runners, just 0.470s shy of the quickest time in sixth.

GP3 champion Valtteri Bottas was quickest of all in the opening session for Double R despite an off, but improved his time by less than a tenth of a second in the afternoon and wound up seventh overall.

Carlin's series veteran Carlos Huertas, Fortec rookie Harry Tincknell and Double R's Pipo Derani rounded out the top 10, just ahead of Rockingham race winners Pietro Fantin (Hitech Racing) and Scott Pye (Double R).
