Hock: Green's race 2 pole
Brit Jamie Green grabbed pole position in his first Formula 3 Euroseries qualifying session, although the unusual format means he in fact secured the top starting slot for the second of this weekend's races at Hockenheim
Green out-paced his French team-mate Alexandre Premat by exactly 0.1s to seal an all ASM front row and a one-two for Mercedes engines. Nico Rosberg was the top Opel runner in third, less than two tenths off the pole time.
Dutchman Giedo van der Garde was a surprising fourth quickest for the Signature team, out-qualifying his team-mate, and the fastest man in last week's test, Nicola Lapierre by two places. The Mercedes-powered car of Eric Salignon split the pair.
Lewis Hamilton lines up ninth, while reigning British Formula Ford champion Tom Kimber-Smith starts 25th.
