Electric Watts
British Formula 3 Championship frontrunner Danny Watts suffered a nightmare start to his 2004 campaign when he was eliminated from the Donington Park season-opener through no fault of his own, but he is adamant that he can bounce back this weekend at Silverstone in his Promatecme-run Lola-Dome. In the first of his regular autosport.com columns, Danny looks forward to getting straight back into the action
After the disappointment of Donington, I can't wait for Silverstone. It's my local track, my sponsor the British Racing Drivers' Club and the Promatecme team are based there, and Lola is not far away in Huntingdon. I spend a lot of my time working at the racing school there too, so I know the place like the back of my hand.
After the crash in the first race at Donington we wanted to be sure that the car was 100 per cent, so the chassis has been back to Lola for a once over and been given the all-clear. We shook it down at Snetterton last week, and everything is fine going into this weekend.
We had a great test at Silverstone earlier in the year. It was meant to be a shakedown but it turned into a session where we could work on the set-up of the car. We're going to concentrate on our own game this weekend, and aim to continue making progress with the chassis. If we can unleash our potential form, then I think we can feature on the podium in either or both of the races.
One thing is for sure, it won't be for a lack of trying.
