Green takes maiden win

Jamie Green took his first Formula 3 Euroseries victory in dominant style in Adria today

The Brit drove around the outside of polesitter Adrian Sutil through the first corner and continued unchallenged to the flag. His victory was made even sweeter by the failure of his championship rivals to collect a substantial haul of points.

Nico Rosberg fought his way up from 17th to fifth, while Alexandre Premat inherited eighth and the final point on the last lap. But neither Nicolas Lapierre, nor Eric Salignon added to their tally. Instead the top eight was filled by unusual names. Second went to Japanese Katsuyuki Hiranaka and third to Dutch rookie Giedo van der Garde.

Sutil was set for a podium finish until he spun with just three laps to go. Brazilian Roberto Streit was also heading for the top three until he slowed to a standstill at the final corner.

British Formula Ford champion Tom Kimber-Smith looked set for a point, but was demoted in the late laps, while Lewis Hamilton's race was ended after just two laps with bent rear suspension.
