Engel takes maiden pole at Spa
Maro Engel took his maiden British Formula Three pole position at Spa-Francorchamps today
It was the second straight pole position for Carlin Motorsport and Mugen-Honda, while championship leader Mike Conway suffered a rare drama. The Double R driver brought out an early red flag after going off on his flying lap.
Although the Briton was fastest at that stage, his session was over and he was never likely to stay quickest.
Engel soon went to provisional pole, before James Walker (Hitech Racing) reclaimed the best time. But Engel responded in style, posting a time that would remain unbeaten.
Walker had to make do with second, with Conway's time still good enough for third on the grid, albeit half a second behind the pace. His team-mate Stephen Jelley will start fourth, ahead of Bruno Senna.
Oliver Jarvis lines up sixth for the race, which takes place tomorrow afternoon.
