Engel also on pole for Monza race 2
The second British Formula 3 qualifying session at Monza this evening produced exactly the same top three as the first did this morning
That means Maro Engel took another pole position for Carlin Motorsport, with Stephen Jelley (Double R) and Atte Mustonen (Double R) next up.
The main loser in this session was Carlin's Sam Bird, who could only manage eighth this time around. Championship leader Marko Asmer (Hitech Racing) thus took fourth, improving one spot from the earlier session.
Bird's troubles meant that Alberto Valerio (Carlin) was best of the Monza first-timers this time around. Fifth place was a five-spot improvement from this morning for the Brazilian.
Sebastian Hohenthal (Fortec Motorsport) was the last of the front-runners to set his fastest lap time, popping in a lap good enough for another sixth place in the dying minutes - when Engel had already parked his car back in the pits.
Sergio Perez put in another fine showing in T-Sport's National Class car, edging Franky Cheng (Performance Racing) into second in the class for older chassis and spec Mugen-Honda engines.
