Croft 1: Dirani wins
Pole was simply converted into a race win today (Sunday), as Danilo Dirani streaked clear to win the first of two British Formula 3 races at Croft. The Brazilian Carlin driver had only to worry about the start, but once that was executed he never needed to look behind him.
Second by an ever-increasing margin was James Rossiter (Fortec), who also had a lonely race after a first-corner incident got rid of front-row man Adam Carroll. The pair made contact that effectively ended Carroll's race and also put some damage on Rossiter's front suspension.
Will Davison was next along, and again a lonely driver on the day. Markko Asmer brought his Hitech entry home fourth, whilst lowly qualifier Nelson Angelo Piquet came through to fifth. The Brazilian championship favourite overtook Ernesto Viso in the only memorable move of the race, before Viso was forced to retire after hitting tyres at the chicane.
