Conway takes first Donington pole
Mike Conway has taken pole position for the first British Formula Three Championship race at Donington Park tomorrow (Sunday)
The English driver, who had a disappointing opening round at Oulton Park last month, was fastest in a blustery qualifying session that was cut short by an unpleasant rain shower.
Conway says he has found a solution to the starting problems that affected him at Oulton, and will line up alongside his championship-leading Double R Racing team-mate Bruno Senna. The Brazilian survived an off-track moment at the Old Hairpin to keep his championship momentum going.
Jerseyman James Walker claimed third on the grid in a Hitech Racing Dallara-Mercedes, just ahead of the first Mugen-powered car of Maro Engel (Carlin Motorsport).
