Conway takes eighth season pole
Mike Conway made took his eighth pole of the 2006 British F3 season in the first qualifying session on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit today
The Double R driver came out on top after an exciting session that was interrupted by two red flags and ended with a third as drizzle fell on the Kent circuit.
Conway defeated Maro Engel (Carlin Motorsport), who looks to have recovered his confidence after an unhappy time in the last race at Silverstone. Next up was Fortec Motorsport driver Yelmer Buurman.
Oliver Jarvis was fourth after a frightening wheel-in-the-gravel moment as he exited Paddock on what could have been his best lap.
His Carlin teammate Christian Bakkerud, who was second in the last race, struggled in this session and brought out the last red flag with an off at Clearways. Bruno Senna, second in the points, will line up fifth.
Juho Annala (Performance Racing) was fastest in the National Class, signalling another qualifying defeat for runaway points leader Rodolfo Gonzalez (T-Sport).
