Carroll secures British seat

Northern Irishman Adam Carroll has ended a long winter of negotiations and uncertainty by signing for British Formula 3 team P1 Motorsport, according to a story in this week's Autosport magazine

The 21-year old, a multiple podium-winner in '03, will team up with Venezuelan Ernesto Viso at the squad in what could turn out to be one of the strongest pairings on the grid. Carroll will drive a brand new Dallara Mugen Honda F304 chassis for the team with which he won the 2002 F3 Scholarship title, when team boss Roly Vincini ran Carroll under the banner of Sweeney Racing.

He was in talks with reigning champion team Carlin Motorsport for this season but said he is pleased to have returned to Vincini's squad.

"I'm ready to rock and roll this season," said Carroll. "I feel that the right thing has happened in the end. Now he'd just better have a good car for me."

Carroll's late deal means that he has already missed the first two weeks of serious pre-season testing but he is unconcerned about his lack of running in the car.

"We've got a month before the first race to get everything sorted," he said. "I'm just glad it's all sorted out."
