Carlin celebrate 100th victory

British racing team Carlin Motorsport are celebrating their 100th victory

The Aldershot team have calculated that Oliver Oakes' win in the opening round of the Formula BMW Great Britain series at Brands Hatch yesterday meant they have now reached their century, with wins in all categories they have competed in.

The majority of the wins have come through British F3 wins (71) but they also scored 11 International F3 wins, eight Nissan/Renault World Series wins, nine Formula BMW wins and a single win in the Porsche Super Cup.

Carlin, founded in 1996 by Trevor Carlin and Martin Stone, have been responsible for helping the careers of Formula One drivers Narain Karthikeyan, Takuma Sato, Anthony Davidson, Tiago Monteiro, and DTM racer Jamie Green.

Carlin said: "Oliver's win is a seminal moment for our team. We started this venture in 1996, our first win came with Narain Karthikeyan at the Madras Grand Prix in 1999 and we truly had no idea then that we would go on to score a 100 victories in the next seven years."

Martin Stone praised the team effort that has gone into the squad.

"Motor racing is very much a team sport and these 100 victories have been achieved by great team work, solid preparation and with particular attention paid to detailed engineering," Stone said.

"We have always tried to get the best out of our drivers by working with them, given them confidence through team support and by listening to their views on set-up.

"Trevor and I would like to thank all Carlin personnel who have contributed to this landmark achievement and it is our hope that this is only the first one hundred wins."
