Burti takes championship lead
Luciano Burti's Brands Hatch podium has given him back the lead in the British F3 series as the championship reaches it's halfway point
Having shared the advantage with Marc Hynes after Croft, 2nd behind Narain Karthikeyan in Kent puts Burti five points clear. However, having qualified in pole with Hynes back in 7th on the grid, Burti perhaps expected to have a larger lead after the race.
Hynes charged through the field to 4th, and seemed to enjoy his race.
He said: 'Going into Druids on the first lap, Coelho made a half-attempt to pass Matt (Davies) and hit him, so I got past the two of them up to fifth.
'Then I got a better run through Paddock than Jenson Button and got him on the run up the hill to Druids. I closed-up on Kirkaldy, but as Burti wasn't leading the race, I wasn't going to take a massive risk to get by him.'
The Burti/Hynes battle is now drawing clear of the rest in the championship, but Narain Karthikeyan is still one to watch.
The Indian has been brilliant but inconsistent this season, seemingly either finishing on the podium or crashing on the first lap. However, he is now the closest challenger to Burti and Hynes and cannot be ruled out for the rest of the season.
