Asmer dominates Brands race one

Marko Asmer (Hitech Racing) extended his lead in the British Formula Three Championship with a dominant win at Brands Hatch today

The Estonian led the race from start to finish, and despite a very brief early safety car, was never threatened.

Double R drivers Stephen Jelley and Jonathan Kennard followed Asmer home at a very respectful distance. Both were pleased to get podium results after their recent disappointments.

Sam Bird (Carlin Motorsport) briefly ran second before a mechanical failure on the second lap forced him to retire.

Sebastian Hohenthal (Fortec Motorsport) was fourth on the first lap, but only as a result of jumping the start. He fell back when he was made to take a drive-through punishment. Once these two were out of the way, it made for a clear run for Jelley and Kennard.

Rodolfo Gonzalez (T-Sport) struggled at the start, but recovered with a sensational drive to fourth. Carlin drivers Maro Engel and Niall Breen had no answer for the flying Venezuelan, and had to settle for fifth and sixth respectively.

Franky Cheng (Performance Racing) defeated Sergio Perez (T-Sport) in the National Class.
