Asmer also on pole for race two
Championship leader Marko Asmer made it a double British Formula Three pole position at Brands Hatch this afternoon
It was a less dramatic session than this morning, and it ran without any red flags or major incidents.
Asmer found clear road early on and banged in a lap when the tyres were at their peak. Although not as quick as his earlier qualifying effort, it was almost half a second faster than anybody else could produce. He was out of his car well before the end of the session.
Fortec Motorsport driver Sebastian Hohenthal emerged as Asmer's nearest challenger this time, with a relatively late lap.
He was followed by Sam Bird (Carlin Motorsport) and Double R Racing drivers Atte Mustonen and Jonathan Kennard. Most of these produced their laps in the first third of the session and joined Asmer on the pit wall before the chequered flag.
Rodolfo Gonzalez (T-Sport) put in another smooth display to go sixth and repeat this morning's position. Stephen Jelley (Double R) went backwards this afternoon and could only manage seventh, while Maro Engel (Carlin) will be even more disappointed. After setting an excellent time in yesterday's test, Engel hasn't been able to come close to it today. He will start race two in eighth position.
Franky Cheng, driving for Performance Racing, was again the fastest driver in the National Class. With several championship class cars to buffer him from his class rivals, tomorrow should be a good day for the Chinese driver to start chasing down Sergio Perez's points lead.
