Macau winner Alex Lynn plans British Formula 3 return at Thruxton
New Red Bull junior recruit Alex Lynn is planning to contest the British Formula 3 International Series round at Thruxton
Macau Grand Prix winner Lynn, who will race in the GP3 Series with Carlin this season, is testing a Carlin-run Dallara-Volkswagen F308 at the Hampshire circuit on Tuesday.
He is keen to make his F3 return at Thruxton, which hosts its British F3 round on August 16/17.
"When I did the GP3 deal, I said as a joke to Trevor [Carlin] that I wanted to do Thruxton and he said, 'Yeah, go for it,'" said Lynn.
"Whether it comes about remains to be seen, but we're doing the test with the mind of doing the races. It's one of my favourite circuits and I've had success there in the past.
"Also, the test has come at a good time for me to get back in a car [bearing in mind GP3's strict testing limitations]."
Lynn had an initial run in the car at Pembrey on Monday. Although he has never raced a 2008-11-generation F3 chassis, he completed his early test mileage in one at the end of 2011.
He has been joined in Carlin's line-up for the tests by Formula Renault BARC race winner Sam MacLeod. The 19-year-old tested with Fortec Motorsport before Christmas, but that team does not have any engines available this week.
