Herck disqualified from sixth place

DPR's celebrations at scoring its first points of the GP2 season have been cut short after Michael Herck was disqualified from his sixth place in today's feature race at the Algarve circuit

Herck was excluded from the results after a post-race inspection of the car revealed that it was in breach of the ride height regulations. However, the Romanian will be allowed to start tomorrow's sprint race from the rear of the grid.

His penalty promotes DAMS' Kamui Kobayashi up to sixth, Addax's Davide Valsecchi to seventh and Andreas Zuber to eighth, giving him pole for tomorrow - Coloni's second sprint race pole position in as many weekends.

Herck was also one of several drivers to receive 25s post-race penalties for cutting the first chicane, however it is rendered redundant by his exclusion. Trident pair Davide Rigon and Ricardo Teixeira both had 25s added to their times and will now start from 14th and 15th tomorrow, while Jerome D'Ambrosio will be docked five grid places due to his not being classified in today's race.

Giedo van der Garde, who also failed to finish, was also docked five grid places for not giving back a position that he gained by cutting the chicane at the start.
