Yamamoto Delighted with GP Experience
Japan's Sakon Yamamoto was delighted after making his debut at Grand Prix weekend as third driver for the Toyota-powered Jordan team
Yamamoto will not race on Sunday but performed creditably enough, setting the 17th best time in the afternoon and lapping faster than Indian teammate Narain Karthikeyan and Portugal's Tiago Monteiro in both sessions.
The Formula Nippon and Japanese GT driver lamented the lack of running in the afternoon's practice session, but was still very happy with his day's work.
"I have really enjoyed driving a Formula One car round Suzuka, my home circuit," he said. "I am satisfied with my job today as I managed to go through the programme my engineers gave me. I have tried different types of Bridgestone tyres and I am sure the team will make the right choice.
"Unfortunately, the rain came in the afternoon session and it limited a bit my running. Nevertheless, I had a fantastic day and I would like to thank Jordan Grand Prix for this great experience."
