Wins won't change Hamilton's approach

Lewis Hamilton insists his approach to next weekend's French Grand Prix will not change despite his back-to-back success in Canada and the United States

The McLaren driver is heading the world championship by 10 points from teammate Fernando Alonso, but has said he will not treat France any differently from how he has approached every race up until now.

He thinks the main target from the weekend is to come away with a podium finish to help bolster his title challenge.

"I definitely did not expect to have a win so early in the season so to get two in a row is an amazing accomplishment," said Hamilton looking back on his recent successes.

"But going to Magny-Cours I have to approach it the same way as I always do. To do a good job.

"It is going to be extremely tough. I am not sure if I have ever won there. So we will have to see, as it is a very demanding circuit technically.

"But it is all about consistency, so I don't have to win. A second or third would be great. As long as I get points that is the key."

With Hamilton vowing not to change his approach to races, the Briton has also insisted that he will remain the same off track. David Coulthard said earlier this week that he expected Hamilton's personality to evolve because of the fame and attention he was receiving.

"I am sure at some point I will be less accessible to the public," said Hamilton. "I am different to other people and I have to respect what David has said. He has been there and done it.

"It is not easy when everyone wants a piece of you. You try to give everyone some time but it is mentally draining and we don't have as much time on our hands as it is because we travel all the time.

"It can be hard but I don't thinking I will be changing. I still think I am the same person as I've always been but that's because I've got a strong family and the way I have been brought up. I don't see why just because I am in F1 I should change the way I look at life."
