European Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx is looking forward to the challenge of driving a Formula One car for the first time this month.
30-year old Priaulx will get behind the wheel of a Williams-BMW at the Valencia circuit on January 27, the Formula One squad confirmed today.
The test is a reward for the ETCC champion's performances during the 2004 season.
"It was a great Christmas present for me on December 4th when I was given this opportunity. I almost had to fight back the tears during the party," said the British driver.
"Since then I've been putting in a lot more physical training than before, especially for my neck muscles, but I don't have any illusions - like every Formula One novice G-forces in the car will be a challenge.
"I can't wait for the test and it is the best way to celebrate being contracted as a BMW works driver."
Frank Williams added: "It is great to see some home grown success, and I have followed Andy's touring car progress since his debut in the 2002 British Touring Car Championship. I hope he finds the experience a positive and enjoyable one."
