Webber urges Jaguar to look forward

Mark Webber has said that the team must look forward and build up trust in order to succeed in 2003, but that the current feeling at the factory is positive

Speaking at the AUTOSPORT international show today (Saturday) Webber, along with new team-mate Antonio Pizzonia, were cautious in giving their aims for the season, although both were optimistic Jaguar would improve on last season..

Webber said: "The feeling at the factory is very, very good. We've got a lot of new people at new stations, and it's going to work very well. We've got to build up from where we finished last year and looking forward is what it's all about now. The history is absolutely that. It's all about getting the trust and communication built-up, and we've got to work on that. It doesn't happen overnight."

Speaking about his goals for the new season, Webber added: "We want to make a clear step forward from last year and I think the ingredients are there for that to happen. I've got my own little goals, but until everyone else has run their new cars it's difficult for us to say how good people are going to be."

This season will be Pizzonia's first in Formula 1 and he is still hopeful of making a good impact.

"There's a lot to learn and a lot of pressure, but I'm quite confident and I think it's going to be a really good season," he said. "Honestly, we have to wait and see how good we're going to be after we've tested the new car and how much the other teams will improve with their new cars. We're going to be looking for points and maybe if we have a really good car then podiums. But I think it's really too early and we have to wait and see."
