Webber: RBR to overcome reliability issues

The team's haul of constructors' championship points has been dented by continued poor reliability, but Webber thinks that the arrival of Geoff Willis and understanding of where they went wrong this year will be key to a step forward next year.

"We had a meeting at the factory last week to look at the things that made us have a painful winter," he told autosport.com.

"And that is where Geoff Willis will hopefully make a difference. Also, I think it is a case of people learning to work with (technical chief) Adrian Newey."

Webber thinks that the team can make big steps forward in terms of reliability next year without needing to sacrifice any performance.

"I think it is clear that with the differential and the gearbox, there is no question that we can improve that for next year in terms of same performance but just loads more reliable," he explained.

"That was the Achilles heel, and still is, so if can get rid of that problem we will be in good shape. The engine? They have done a great job for us there, so we should be in a better position."

Although much of Red Bull's focus is on next year, Webber is well aware that the team are still locked in a tight fight for constructors' championship positions with Williams and Toyota this season.

"Frustratingly Williams have got a little bit on us, which means fourth potentially in the constructors'. But it is crucial that we keep Toyota away. Williams are a bit of one car team though, although Alex (Wurz) has got a lot of points.

"And Toyota, if we can get our team firing on all ten cylinders, then we can get them."
