Webber on Top, Ralf Debuts New Toyota - Day Two

Australian Mark Webber finished on top of the timesheets for his Williams team on the second day of this year's testing at the Jerez circuit in southern Spain.

The Williams driver managed to outpace German Nick Heidfeld, quickest yesterday, as both worked with the BMW-powered FW26B car. Webber covered a total of 115 laps despite suffering a mechanical problem at the end of the day, the Australian finishing over two tenths ahead of Heidfeld.

Heidfeld, hoping to land the second racing seat at Williams will go head-to-head with Brazilian Antonio Pizzonia in Thursday's session.

Frenchman Franck Montagny kicked off Renault's first test of 2005, driving the R24B on his way to the third fastest time of the day. Montagny will be the only man in charge of testing duties for Renault this week.

Montagny finished in front of BAR's tester Anthony Davidson, who continued to put miles in the 2005 concept car. The Briton worked alongside Enrique Bernoldi, slowest today in the second concept car.

German Ralf Schumacher joined the Jerez test with his Toyota team, who debuted the new TF105 car which was unveiled in Barcelona last Saturday. Schumacher was the only driver from the Japanese squad in action today as he put the new machine through its paces.

The Toyota driver focused mainly on checking the car's systems and covered just 40 laps on his way to the fifth fastest time of the day.
