Webber: Jaguar Still Inconsistent

Australian Mark Webber says he does not currently see his Jaguar team as regular points scorers despite his impressive performances in the opening six races of the year.

Australian Mark Webber says he does not currently see his Jaguar team as regular points scorers despite his impressive performances in the opening six races of the year.

Webber, who started last Sunday's Austrian Grand Prix from 17th on the grid and overcame a 10-second stop-go penalty to finish in seventh place, has now finished in the points in the last two races. But he said there is still a lot of work.

"We've still got to chip away at it and get all the things right," said Webber. "In qualifying, the driver let the team down and there have been other times when the team have let me down. We're still not getting it all together, but all our goals have clearly been met.

"We wanted to get some points at a few races this year and we're making pretty good progress."

Webber qualified in third and fifth at the Brazilian and San Marino Grands Prix respectively but lost control of his Jaguar on his single-lap run in Austria and was forced to start from low down on the grid.

But the Jaguar team, which is now in the hands of Dave Pitchforth after the sacking of former boss Niki Lauda last year, have made genuine progress this season and are currently eighth in the World Championship.
