Webber Delighted with First Two Points

A happy Mark Webber praised and thanked his Jaguar team after scoring the first points of the season at the Spanish Grand Prix.

A happy Mark Webber praised and thanked his Jaguar team after scoring the first points of the season at the Spanish Grand Prix.

The Australian driver, who had failed to materialise his great qualifying performances in Brazil and Imola, finally managed to get his first points with Jaguar after finishing in seventh place at the Barcelona circuit following a good recovery from 12th position on the grid.

Webber, in his second Formula One season after making his debut with Minardi last year, was thankful to his team and happy to have finally get his first points of 2003.

"I am delighted with the result and to take two Championship points back to the workforce is just reward for their hard work," said Webber. "I am not saying we are bulletproof but we have clearly taken some positive steps since Imola.

"Before the weekend, we would have been happy with seventh place and all credit must go to the guys back at base who deserve it. The aim now is to capitalise upon today's data and with three-days at Paul Ricard next week, the Jaguar R4 should be looking good in Austria too."
