Webber calls for big push from Red Bull
Mark Webber has called on Red Bull Racing to make a big push in the next few races, despite scoring his first points of the year in the United States Grand Prix
The Australian finished seventh at Indianapolis to end his season long points drought, but he still believes that there are plenty of areas where the Milton Keynes-based team can improve.
"We have certainly made heavy weather of the first six or seven races and it is nice to get some points," Webber told autosport.com. "Points these days aren't easy to get and it is nice to capitalise.
"BMW had a bad weekend race wise, Nico (Rosberg) obviously had a late retirement and we were there to pick up on that. It was good to get some points and there was a big scrap with Jarno (Trulli). It was a little bit on the edge in places, but it was a good scrap.
"We have still got to understand our tyres a bit better and work on that, and this package has been very efficient in a straight-line but maybe we need to work out more in the corners."
Webber thinks that Red Bull's biggest challenge is in making the kind of leap forward that Renault have done to haul themselves clear of the midfield pack.
"Renault look like they have made a step, no question about that. It's tough to get points. Renault have shackled themselves off the group, they are itching on the back of BMW now and we are not. We need to try and find a bit more to track on the back of Renault again."
And Webber thinks it is not just speed where Red Bull Racing have to improve, because he also thinks they have still not overcome their reliability issues.
"You need to have three or four races with two cars finishing to get the confidence and consistency across weekends for that monkey to go," he said.
"We had a shaky running on Friday and lost running, and we have not had two cars finish a race yet. But once we can start chipping away with that it makes life easier."
