No deal yet in customer car row

Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone is still searching for a solution to the sport's customer car row after no agreement was reached at Indianapolis last weekend

Several meetings took place throughout the Indianapolis event and there was hope that a deal could be struck that would end planned arbitration action by Spyker against Super Aguri and Scuderia Toro Rosso.

Sources have revealed that the deal on the table is for the two 'customer car' teams at the centre of the row, plus Spyker, to pool together their television rights money and share it out at the end of the season.

Team boss Frank Williams believed that steps forward in finding a solution had been made at Indianapolis, but he was unsure about how close a deal actually was.

"We have made some progress, but like most things in Formula One it is as much to do with money as anything else," he said when asked by autosport.com about the situation.

"We may be moving towards a conclusion, but it is by no means done yet. If you are cynical, you will say we haven't agreed all the principles so we are a million miles away, and if you are charitable you can say, yes we are closer than we were. It depends what sort of personality you are."
