Warm-up: More Minardi drama

Rubens Barrichello underlined his high expectations for this afternoon's Spanish Grand Prix by going fastest in the morning warm-up, a session that had to be red flagged because of another Minardi wing failure

With just over a minute to run, Mark Webber's rear wing flew off his car as he drove down the start/finish straight. When he braked for the first corner, the PS02 snapped into a high-speed spin and Webber plunged into the gravel.

It marked the third wing failure for the team this weekend. Both Webber and team-mate Alex Yoong had their front wings break on them on Saturday. Having spun at high speed this morning, Webber waved his hand in anger as he got out of his car. It was later decided that the alarming failures were too risky to allow Webber and Yoong to race, and the team withdrew (click here for full story).

Barrichello topped the times from the mid-way point of the session, then bettered his mark to a 1m20.229s with a couple of minutes to go.

The Saubers of Nick Heidfeld and Felipe Massa, which will start eighth and 11th this afternoon, were second and fourth in the half-hour session.

Pole winner Michael Schumacher was third fastest, but the German was forced to pull off in his Ferrari with less than five minutes to go. Despite the hydraulics failure, he looked unconcerned as he waved and joked with the crowd in the surrounding grandstands.

Heinz-Harald Frentzen was fifth fastest in his Arrows, ahead of the first Michelin runner Ralf Schumacher. The McLarens were well down, Kimi Raikkonen 14th and David Coulthard 16th.
