Villeneuve will stay at BAR next season

Jacques Villeneuve will continue to drive for the trouble-plagued BAR team next year

Team boss Craig Pollock said a decision would be made on whether to retain second driver Ricardo Zonta in the 'coming days or weeks'.

There had been speculation the Canadian would quit BAR after a succession of minor problems have left him without a finish in 10 grands prix.

Villeneuve has sometimes reached the end of his patience. In Brazil he walked out of the circuit half way through a practice session.

Then at the French Grand Prix he publicly questioned the commitment of the head of the technical team, Adrian Reynard.

'Jacques is confirmed for next year, he has a contract and we will be looking at Ricardo over the next few days or weeks,' Pollock said in Hungary.

He admitted his team had failed to live up to his massive pre-season hype.

'We have not achieved what we set out to do - we have under achieved. We have zero results and zero finishes [in the points]

'We have thousands of little problems. We have managed to rectify 2,500 problems but there are 3,000 problems. We always seem to be chasing problems with the car.'
