Villeneuve 'amazed' at Schumacher

BMW driver Jacques Villeneuve said he is still amazed at Michael Schumacher's actions during qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix

"I am still amazed," said Villeneuve. "I find it unbelievable but we all have a different psychological make-up so you cannot expect everyone to react the same way you would.

"Sometimes you see something and you think, 'there is no way someone would have done that' but actually yes people do do things that you would never do yourself, so that is just life."

Schumacher was sent to the back of the grid for deliberately preventing rivals from improving their times by stopping on track in the dying seconds of the session.

The Ferrari driver claimed he had made a genuine error, but several of his rivals are still expecting the German to change his version.

A Grand Prix Drivers' Association meeting will demand Schumacher to come clean this weekend.

"I have no idea what will happen in the meeting, but I cannot imagine any plausible explanation," Villeneuve added.

"Sometimes in life you just have to bite the bullet and admit that you have been an idiot, and everybody makes mistakes at critical moments but then you have to be big enough to say, 'whoops sorry guys that was just really stupid of me, it was embarrassing' and life just carries on.

"But if you try to make people believe that actually you didn't do it on purpose then you just look like a twat, so I cannot imagine an explanation."

Some drivers have urged Schumacher to resign as director of the GPDA, and Villeneuve admitted he was not happy to have the German onboard.

"I can only give a personal opinion. Personally I am not happy that someone can run the GPDA and act like that, that is just my personal opinion and I haven't discussed that with any other driver. Any discussion that will take place will be kept behind closed doors."
