Dutchman Jos Verstappen will return to Formula One action when he tests for the Jordan Grand Prix team next month.
Verstappen, who was left without a racing seat for this season, had a seat fitting at Jordan's headquarters today. The 32-year old driver had been linked with a move to Jordan after the Silverstone-based squad teamed up with the Verstappen's long-term sponsor Trust.
Verstappen's spokesman Raymond Vermeulen said, however, that the test did not mean his driver would be returning to racing this year.
"There should be no hasty conclusions from this temporary comeback from Jos," Vermeulen told the driver's website. "This is the result of the meeting that was held in Dordrecht between Michel Perridon [of Trust] and Eddie Jordan, where also Ian Philips of Jordan and me were present.
"It's good to see that Jos is going to drive an F1 car again. First we'll see how the test goes and then we'll look further."
Team principal Eddie Jordan added: "It's fantastic that Jos, with this test, gets the attention of F1 again. Jos still has a future in F1 as far as I'm concerned. I hope that this test will prove positive for Verstappen."
The test will take place on June 1 at Silverstone.
