Turbulent debut for Liuzzi

Vitantonio Liuzzi, the reigning Formula 3000 champion, remained positive after enduring a rollercoaster ride on his Formula 1 debut for Red Bull Racing in Friday practice for the Australian Grand Prix.

Red Bull test driver Liuzzi, who is chasing a promotion to the race team, finished fastest in his first ever competitive Formula One outing but then damaged his car in an off in the afternoon and finished last but one.

"The morning was great for me to do well and have a fast time but this afternoon was frustrating for me and the team!" Liuzzi said. "I enjoyed it, but we lost time when I had an off early in the session and then we lost a lot of time.

"That is the worst because, of course, for me it is very important to have a lot of track time and to do the work. But the track is fantastic, the atmosphere is great and I am happy - but nothing is always perfect in life."

Red Bull saw all three of their cars finish in the top ten in the morning session with Italian Liuzzi leading the times, Scot David Coulthard fifth and Austrian Christian Klien tenth.

But the afternoon session, which saw more of the top runners setting fast times, was not so good and Coulthard was their lead runner in 12th with Klien a disappointing 17th.
