Trust Makes Progress in Jordan Negotiations

Dutch sponsor Trust claim to have reached an agreement with the Jordan team, that will see Jos Verstappen drive for the team in the upcoming season.

Dutch sponsor Trust claim to have reached an agreement with the Jordan team, that will see Jos Verstappen drive for the team in the upcoming season.

In a press release posted on the company's website this evening, the computer company said Jordan "has given his word" today to sign Verstappen, during a telephone conversation between himself and Trust CEO, M.J.C.W. Perridon.

"During the last few weeks intensive contact between the Jordan F1 team and Trust has taken place, regarding the possibility of a working relationship," the press release stated. "A deadline of 17.00hr this afternoon was set to determine a more clear standpoint from the Jordan team. After an elaborate telephone conversation between Trust and Jordan, a positive arrangement has been proposed."

Perridon said that "Jordan has given his word over the telephone" and that the two decided to sign a final agreement in the next few days.

"We are happy to have taken this step forward," Perridon said. "Jos is an excellent driver with an outstanding track record, who absolutely deserves a seat in Formula One."

Jordan did not confirm the claims and a team spokesman said the team will not make any annoucements today.
