Trulli's future in question

Jarno Trulli may have taken a triumphant victory in last weekend's Monaco Grand Prix, but his boss says that's not enough to guarantee him a race seat at Renault in 2005, according to this week's Autosport magazine

Flavio Briatore accepts that Trulli is working well and improving his form, but he says that may not be enough. "Jarno is improving, but he has plenty of room to improve still," says Briatore.

Autosport's sources suggest that Trulli will have to continue in his current form until at least the US Grand Prix on June 20, if he is to retain his place.

Trulli admits that he has not yet spoken to Renault about next year, but claims to be relaxed about the situation for the moment. The Italian also comes to the end of his contract with Briatore's management company at the end of this season, which may further complicate matters. Briatore also manages Jaguar's Mark Webber and the Australian's name has frequently been linked with a 2005 drive at Renault, as well as BMW Williams.

Briatore says he won't announce any decisions about Renault's driving squad for 2005 until July and won't start talking to Trulli until June.
