Trulli not ruling out surprise result

Italian Jarno Trulli is not ruling out a surprise result at the Monaco Grand Prix, although he is staying cautious about his own chances for the race

The Toyota driver, who scored his only win so far at the principality in 2004 with Renault, posted a promising fourth quickest time in Thursday's second practice session.

And although he admits he has no realistic chance of fighting at the top of the field, he believes anything can happen in Monaco.

"Realistically we know we can't aim for victory, but at Monte Carlo in particular circumstances it can happen that you get a win or a podium," Trulli told Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Or that everything goes up in smoke, as it happened to me last year, when the gearbox on my car broke with five laps to go.

"Free practice wasn't bad, but I'm keeping my feet on the ground because Monte Carlo can always spring a surprise. I've always felt good here, and once again I went really quick, but I'll wait until after qualifying before passing judgement.

"We are consistently in what I consider the second group: Renault, Red Bull, Williams and us. We aim to be the best of these teams, but we must not lose anymore important points like the ones in Spain."
