Toyota Wrap Up Two-Day Test at Nurburgring

The Toyota Formula One team completed a two-day testing session at the Nurburgring circuit on Tuesday, as the Japanese outfit continue their preparation before their official debut in the 2002 season.

Both Finn Mika Salo and Scot Allan McNish worked at the German circuit, continuing the development of their traction and launch control systems. The team also practised pitstops ahead of their racing debut next season.

Salo was the fastest of the two with a best lap of 1:19.61, while McNish's best lap was 1:20.02. Michael Schumacher's pole position time this year was 1:14.960.

"This was a pretty good test for us," said Salo. "We managed to do a lot of laps and we did all the engine mapping that we were supposed to do here. After a very positive two days we are now ready for the next test in Hungary."

"We did a lot of kilometres here," added McNish. "We worked on traction control again and found some gains. There was also some more work on aerodynamics, but the main thing was traction control. Overall, I think this was a very encouraging test for both myself and Mika."

Toyota move now to the Hungaroring circuit in Budapest, where they will test from September 4-6.
