Toyota complete pre-season work at Jerez

The Toyota team completed on Thursday their pre-season testing programme with their second day of work at the Jerez circuit

In a private test, Ralf Schumacher and Jarno Trulli were again the men in charge of testing duties for the Japanese squad, who continued working with the new aerodynamic package to be used in Australia.

They also worked on optimising set-ups before the first race of the season.

Although the day was trouble-free, Schumacher's day was interrupted when he struck a bird that damaged his car.

"In general we have had a productive two days of testing and we have not had many problems at all, except for catching birds," said Schumacher. "It has been quite a painless test really and we have made good progress.

"We have worked hard all winter to improve the car and now we go to Melbourne where we will push hard for a strong start to the season."

Schumacher covered a total of 60 laps, with a best time of 1:19.519. Teammate Trulli set a best time of 1:18.589 after 123 laps.

"It has been two useful days and we have checked some things on the car and pushed even further with car performance," said Trulli. "We tried different things on the set-up with the latest aero package and they seemed to go well.

"I have to say the last two days have been good in terms of reliability so I am more confident now going to Melbourne."
