Todt aims for Ferrari one-two

Ferrari team principal Jean Todt has set his sights on scoring a one-two in the Formula 1 drivers' championship, claiming Rubens Barrichello can take second place ahead of McLaren's David Coulthard and Williams' Ralf Schumacher

Michael Schumacher has all but wrapped-up this year's title, and is poised to clinch the championship in next month's Hungarian Grand Prix. However, Todt says that while his team won't take its eye off the ball in ensuring Schumacher's victory, he wants to go one better than last year's haul of drivers' and constructors' titles and wrap up second spot in the drivers' competition too.

"There is still the question of second place in the drivers' championship," said the Frenchman. "The gap between Ralf, David and Rubens is not that much, so second place in the drivers' championship is still possible as well."

Barrichello is currently fourth in the standings following his second place in the German Grand Prix. The Brazilian is on 40 points, just one point behind Ralf Schumacher and seven behind second-placed man Coulthard. Barrichello has enjoyed a more consistent season so far, finishing on the podium eight times this year, compared with DC's six and Ralf's four - although Barrichello, unlike his rivals, has yet to score a win.

For the remainder of the year, however, Todt says Ferrari can afford not to launch an all-out offensive but still ensure its domination in both championships. A maximum of 50 points are still up for grabs in the remaining five Grands Prix, with David Coulthard already 37 behind Schumacher.

"It's true that we have an advantage at the moment," he explained. "This allows us not to win every race because mathematically Michael only needs 13 points in five races. That means we can race defensively.

"Reliability is really important. Even though we may be at a high level, I always say that we have to be careful, that we have to keep our feet on the ground in the coming races."
