Testing spread around Europe

The Formula 1 teams have chosen a variety of circuits around Europe to rack up more testing miles this week ahead of the French Grand Prix.

It will be the final week of F1 testing until September, ahead of the official summer break.

Williams, Toyota, Jaguar and British American Racing will run at Monza in Italy, but only two of those teams will start their programmes today (Tuesday). Test driver Antonio Pizzonia will be behind the wheel of a Williams-BMW, while Allan McNish will start the process of putting a disasterous British GP behind him for Toyota.

Bridgestone-shod teams Sauber and Jordan are testing at the Spanish Valencia circuit this week, along with Renault and a second Williams-BMW test team. Jordan will not start running until tomorrow.

Arrows are also scheduled to join them in Spain if it is able to in the wake of the team's troubles that almost kept Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Enrique Bernoldi from competing in the British GP.

The team is on its way to Spain today, but whether the cars begin running tomorrow is another question.

McLaren will test in isolation at Paul Ricard in France, starting today, while Ferrari will carry out its usual week of running at Fiorano and Mugello in Italy.

Minardi is the only team not scheduled to test.
