Stubs Required for US GP Refund
Fans who attended the United States Grand Prix this year and did not maintain their race-day ticket stub will not be able to claim a refund from Michelin, Indianapolis Motor Speedway clarified
The race track administration has undertaken the unprecedented task of arranging the refund process for tens of thousands of ticket holders who attended the race this year, when the seven Michelin teams elected not to run due to safety concerns.
Michelin announced it will refund all eligible ticket holders for the event, and with over 100,000 in attendance that day, the cost of the refund programme is expected to reach beyond $10 million US.
But in order to claim the refund, those fans without a Ticket Holder account at Indy must be in possession of their ticket stub. People who did not save the ticket will not be able to claim the refund using other means (such as a purchase receipt or credit card statement), with IMS officials explaining to Autosport-Atlas that tickets could have been resold after purchase, creating a possible double-refund.
Holders of valid ticket stubs are required to send in their refund request by August 29th the latest, with refund cheques set to be delivered by post during the month of September. IMS Ticket Holder account members will not be required to take further steps: the track will mail them their refund automatically.
IMS officials have already said, however, that the circuit will not divulge the number of refunds made once the project has ended.
