Struggling Prost's F1 Future in Doubt

Alain Prost's future as a Formula One team chief was in further doubt on Sunday after his struggling team, for which he is considering offers, suffered two more embarrassing disappointments in the Hungarian Grand Prix. Alain Prost's future as a Formula One team chief was in further doubt on Sunday after his struggling team, for which he is considering offers, suffered two more embarrassing disappointments in the Hungarian Grand Prix. Prost, winner of a record 51 Grands Prix and four world titles as a driver, saw both his cars, driven by Frenchman Jean Alesi and German Nick Heidfeld, retire early.

Alesi bowed out with a rear left suspension problem after 11 laps and Heidfeld with engine problems after 22.

Alesi said: "My steering wheel was starting to tilt to one side because of a problem with the left rear suspension. It got worse and worse.

"I stopped in the pits and my mechanics tried to fix it. But the wheel had changed its alignment too much and the car totally lost its balance. I decided that was enough."

Prost, who has confirmed he has been approached during the last week by parties in Canada, Germany and Britain interested in buying his team, said: "I am really disappointed with the overall performance of the team.

"We have had the same problems for a long time and we are still not able to find any proper solutions.

"It is difficult for everyone in the team to work in the present circumstances, but it is not a valid reason for our lack of results."

The Peugeot-powered Prost team, struggling to find a new engine deal for next season, has yet to score a point this campaign.
